Universal Works

Universal Works is a British brand by Mapperley born founder David Keyte. Prior to earning a feat of experience in the fashion industry (including 13 years at Paul Smith), Keyte was a miner in a South Derbyshire pit and it is from this experience that he draws inspiration for his line. From his working class background Keyte formed an appreciation of craftsman-made, quality clothing; the kind one might have to save up for but that is entirely worth the wait. For this reason Keyte easily dismisses the option to mass-produce his line. His time as a miner also influenced his selective choice of materials which is insistently natural and durable fabrics and yarns that would suit the manual labourer. Universal Works Outerwear and Jackets has a strong following amongst our customers, renowned for their quality construction and the use of the best cotton twill, wax and often technical fabrics in their designs. Kiosk 78 also carries a range of Universal Works knitwear and shirting which is always strong in design, fit and quality - a good honest brand that has become one of our favourites at Kiosk 78.
